Amrit Vela

Due to the recent spread of the Coronavirus there will be NO Amrit Vela programmes until further notice. We are following government guidelines for everyone's safety & well being.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism urged his disciples to get up between 4am-6am, wash and then recite God's name - in the "Divine Nectar Period" (Amrit Vela), arise and chant and meditate on the Great Lord followed by the Panj Bania of Nitnem Sahib the 5 morning prayers.

PANJ BANIA (5 Prayers)

  • Japji Sahib
  • Jaap Sahib
  • Tav Parsad Savaiye Sahib
  • Chaupai Sahib
  • Anand Sahib

Followed by the Ardas, a prayer for the well being of all and then the Hukamnama Sahib, a hymn from the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh Holy Scriptures which is given as an order to Sikhs by one of the Gurus of Sikhism.

Amrit Vela is carried out on a two weekly rota at the Gurdwara Sahibs below from the times of 5am during winter and 6am during summer:
